Raid protection
A raid is a flood of accounts joining at once to spam or harass. Raid protection watches for bursts of joins. When one looks like a raid, it starts raid mode, which escalates in three stages and steps back down on its own once things are quiet, putting everything back as it was.
Setting it up
Section titled “Setting it up”-
Turn on the Raid protection plugin on the Plugins page of
/settings. -
On the Raid protection page, turn on Raid detection. It starts off.
-
On the Raid response page, choose what each stage does. By default, stage 1 kicks new accounts, and stages 2 and 3 do nothing extra until you turn them on.
-
Set a notifications channel on the General page, so you get the review card when a raid ends.
How raids are detected
Section titled “How raids are detected”Axmo watches how many people join in a short time, and how alike they look. The more a burst of joins looks like a raid, the higher the stage raid mode starts at.
These signals make a burst of joins look more like a raid:
| Signal | Plan |
|---|---|
| New accounts | Starter Plus Pro |
| No avatar | Plus Pro |
| Similar names | Plus Pro |
The defaults suit most servers. If raid mode starts too easily, or not when it should, adjust it on the Raid protection page:
- Change sensitivity sets how many joins, and in how many seconds, start raid mode.
- Change signals sets how much each signal counts, or turns it off.
- Change stage scores sets how much of a raid it takes to reach stages 2 and 3.
/raidmode status shows how the recent joins look to Axmo, which helps when adjusting these.
The three stages
Section titled “The three stages”Each stage does everything the one before it does, plus more. Set what each does on the Raid response page.

Stage 1: act on raiders
Section titled “Stage 1: act on raiders”New members who join during the raid get the raid action: Only report, Mute, Kick (the default) or Ban. Change it with Choose raid action. Mutes last 1 hour by default.
Only accounts younger than 7 days are acted on by default. Set this from 1 to 365 days, or 0 to act on everyone who joins.
Stage 2: lock down
Section titled “Stage 2: lock down”- Lock down at stage 2 (off by default) locks channels. Pick channels to leave alone with Choose unlocked channels.
- Change slowmode sets slowmode on the channels left unlocked, from 5 seconds to 6 hours. It’s off by default.
Stage 3: close the doors
Section titled “Stage 3: close the doors”- Pause invites at stage 3 (off by default) pauses the server’s invites.
- Choose verification level raises the server’s verification level to Low, Medium, High or Highest. By default it’s left as it is.
Stage 3 needs Axmo to have the Manage Server permission.
Recovery
Section titled “Recovery”Once joins have been quiet for the step-down time (5 minutes by default), raid mode drops one stage at a time until it ends. Set this with Change step-down time on the Raid recovery page.
As it steps down, everything is put back as it was:
- Below stage 2, channels unlock a few at a time and their earlier slowmode comes back.
- Below stage 3, invites resume and the verification level goes back, unless someone changed it in the meantime.
Raid mode never steps down while people are still joining. If a moderator started raid mode by hand, it doesn’t step down by itself.
After a raid
Section titled “After a raid”When raid mode ends, a Raid review card is posted in the notifications channel. It shows when the raid started, how long it lasted, its highest stage, how many joined, how many were acted on and how many were undone.
- List members lists who raid mode acted on.
- Undo all overturns raid mode’s cases and lifts its bans and mutes, after you confirm. Use it if raid mode caught real members. Kicked members have to rejoin themselves.

You can lock down without a raid, like when an argument gets out of hand. A lockdown stops @everyone sending messages, sending in threads, creating threads and adding reactions. It skips the unlocked channels you chose and the ticket category. Timed lockdowns show up in /schedule list.
