Investigating members
Before you act on someone, see what they’ve done before. These commands bring a member’s record and recent messages together, and find messages across the server.
To use them, turn on the Utilities plugin on the Plugins page of /settings. They only show messages from channels you can read.

/investigate
Section titled “/investigate”Run /investigate with a user, or right-click a member and choose Apps → Investigate. The card shows:
- when their account was made, when they joined, and how old their account was when they first joined
- Flags, like a very new account, a recent join, an active mute, or that they’re no longer in the server
- Messages: how many they’ve sent in the last day and week, how many were edited and deleted, and their 3 latest messages
- their cases, notes, tickets, appeals, and the automation rules they’re close to triggering, for the plugins you have on and the permissions you have
Buttons open the Timeline, everything about them newest first, and List cases, List notes and List evidence.
/search
Section titled “/search”| Option | Description |
|---|---|
contains |
What to find: 3 to 100 characters of it, or a pattern when regex is on. Required. |
regex |
Read contains as a regular expression. Use \y for a word boundary. |
channel |
Only messages in this channel or thread. |
user |
Only messages from this user. |
If you search too often, Axmo asks you to wait a moment.
/context and /jump
Section titled “/context and /jump”/context sends a transcript file of a message and the messages around it, for evidence or to catch up on what happened.
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
message |
The message’s ID. Required. |
before |
How many messages before it to include, 0 to 50. Defaults to 25. |
after |
How many messages after it to include, 0 to 50. Defaults to 25. |
/jump gives you a link to a message when you only have its ID, like from a log.
Limits
Section titled “Limits”Axmo only keeps recent messages, so /search, /context and the message counts in /investigate can’t go further back than this:
| Starter | Plus | Pro | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Messages kept | 14 days | 30 days | 45 days |
Permissions
Section titled “Permissions”These commands are shown to members with Time Out Members by default.
| Permission | Allows | Default groups |
|---|---|---|
utilities.context |
Jump to messages and see the ones around them (/context, /jump) |
viewer, helper, moderator, administrator |
utilities.investigate |
Look into members’ records and recent messages | helper, moderator, administrator |
utilities.whois |
Look up members and their local time (/whois, /time) |
moderator, administrator |
utilities.search |
Search stored messages with /search |

What /investigate shows also depends on your other permissions, like tickets.view for tickets and appeals.view for appeals. A server can stop moderators seeing records about themselves. See Cases.
